Description: This book is a commentary by Swami Viditatmananda on three short compositions of Sri Sankaracarya: 1) Atmasatkam 2) Pratassmaranam and 3) Prarthana Satpadi. The first two discuss the nature of meditation on the self and the third is a prayer to Lord Visnu. Atmasatkam, also known as Nirvanasatkam is a well-known composition of six verses wherein the fourth line of every verse says ‘cidanandarupah sivoham sivoham’ or ‘I am siva, the auspicious, of the nature of consciousness and limitlessness. The Pratassmaranam which means remembering or meditationg at dawn, is a compostition of three verses describing the nature of the self as the witness of the three states, the illuminator of all and the self of all. Satpadi, a composition of six couplets is a prayer where Sri Sankaracarya assumes the role of a humble devotee and earnestly requestes the Lord to lift him from the ocean of samsara.
